Connection to self-hosted multiplayer servers not possible

Post by jgmeiner »

Hi,

with Version 9.2.24 it seems to no longer be possible to connect to servers that are hosted by users over the internet. In the local net it's working.
The Application always gives an error dialogue "Can't connect to server".
Is there any special setup necessary? In March 2021 we were happily flying on servers we created...

Kr,
Johannes

This should work, and most likly it is due to problems with the Firewall, Router, etc. please check here:

I got the problem, it seems my LTE provider is working with a subnet due to ipv4 address range limitations. This way port forwarding configured in my lte modem does not work. I have a new modem, and need to contact the provider in order to get a static ip outside the subnet again.

Thanks for your help,
Johannes

I've experienced similar connection issues with multiplayer servers, and it's quite frustrating when you can't join external servers while local connections work fine. This problem often stems from firewall settings or port forwarding configurations that may have changed. Unlike games such as Infinite Craft where server connectivity is typically more streamlined, flight simulators often require specific network setup. Have you checked if your router's port forwarding rules are still active and whether Windows Firewall might be blocking the connection?
