I downloaded Heli-x about 4 weeks ago to evaluate before purchasing, I've been using Pheonix RC but as I was only intrested in a Helicopter simulator Heli-x look like a better option.
Everything worked well I moved from an Esky ubs controller to my DX6i after setup it was very close to the real thing, Dynam Erazor450.
Purchased Heli-x register online but now it's activated it's very slow, to open menu's, screen updates are block'ey, idle up which is configured on the space now dosn't work, basicly it dosn't work now.
Help!!!
Heli-x running slow after activation
Re: Heli-x running slow after activation
Hello,
it is likely that you now use an airport with a higher resolution. Please
1. Make sure that you have an airport of type SkyBox1024 (first chosse "Small" to be sure
2. Check the settings in Settings-Performance ((and play with the Anti-alias settings)

Re: Heli-x running slow after activation
Hi Michael,
Re Windows 8 Pro. I've just upgraded my laptop and installed a SSD I was quite impressed until I tried to get Heli-x working loaded but can't get anything to display just get a black flying field. Played around with the setting as suggested below.
Is Windows 8 supported? Running the latest version of Java 7 9 and updated Heli-x to 4.1.1203
Thanks
Peter

Re: Heli-x running slow after activation
It is likely that you destroyed your graphics driver with the update. Please install a graphics driver again

Re: Heli-x running slow after activation
Looks like Windows 8 has a driver and has picked up the chipset and install the correct one. Looking around their are no newer ones available.
Mobile Intel(R) Series Express Chipset Family (Microsoft Corporation - WDDM 1.1)

Re: Heli-x running slow after activation
even with 16bit Color depth? Low-Res Airports and conservative performance settings? I myself own a netbook with Intel GMA 945 graphics - needed lots of tweaking and had to select a real low resolution helicopter (the Heli-X models work fine because they are simple), but with 16 bit color depth I get a smooth simulation. Without antialiasing, of course, because that chipset simply doesnt support multisampling... maybe I can help you out with my parameters. I use Windows XP on that netbook, not Windows 8 because it would be way too slow
Re: Heli-x running slow after activation
Hi Thomas,
Widows 8 doesn't have an option to set the colour depth, 16 bit colour was one of the Michaels suggestions with my original post. The machine ran Heli-x before when it was Windows XP had to use 1024 flying fields but other wise it worked well. As it was a good spec'ed laptop Dual core 4GB ram etc I decided to upgrade to a SSD disk and Windows 8 Pro to extend it's useful life. Looking around WDDM drivers could be the problem, on XP Java ran at 100% now it's just taking a few per cent I've increased it's priority to high but still the same.
Will keep looking, resolution, antialiasing and FP have no affect.
