6ch Simulator recognized but not working

Post by zaph »

hello ...
and some other guy with a problem I found on this forum but unfortunately no working solution for me yet ...

I got myself the USB 6ch Simulator by Dynam and connected it directly to an USB port on my MacPro.
it is recognized and shows in the System-Profiler as "PPM":

Code: Select all

Produkt-ID:	0x0003
Hersteller-ID:	0x06f7
Version:	 1.07
Geschwindigkeit:	Bis zu 1,5 MBit/s
Hersteller:	WAILLY
Standort-ID:	0x1d200000
Verfügbare Stromstärke (mA):	500
Erforderliche Stromstärke (mA):	500
Joystick And Gamepad Tester.app (is this app still up-to-date?) lets me select the device but doesn't show any "movements" while testing:

Code: Select all

Button #1 : Minimum = 0, Default = 0, Maximum = 0
Button #2 : Minimum = 0, Default = 0, Maximum = 0
Button #3 : Minimum = 0, Default = 0, Maximum = 0
Button #4 : Minimum = 0, Default = 0, Maximum = 0
Button #5 : Minimum = 0, Default = 0, Maximum = 0
Button #6 : Minimum = 0, Default = 0, Maximum = 0
Button #7 : Minimum = 0, Default = 0, Maximum = 0
Button #8 : Minimum = 0, Default = 0, Maximum = 0
Button #9 : Minimum = 0, Default = 0, Maximum = 0
Button #10 : Minimum = 0, Default = 0, Maximum = 0
Button #11 : Minimum = 0, Default = 0, Maximum = 0
Button #12 : Minimum = 0, Default = 0, Maximum = 0
Z-Axis : Minimum = 0, Default = 0, Maximum = 0
Z-Rotation : Minimum = 0, Default = 0, Maximum = 0
X-Axis : Minimum = 0, Default = 0, Maximum = 0
Y-Axis : Minimum = 0, Default = 0, Maximum = 0
X-Rotation : Minimum = 0, Default = 0, Maximum = 0
Y-Rotation : Minimum = 0, Default = 0, Maximum = 0
Hatswitch : Minimum = 0, Default = 0, Maximum = 0
Surprisingly USB Overdrive does fully recognize the USB 6ch Simulator by Dynam with all the inputs perfectly working! even lets me save the device information as a PropertyList:

Code: Select all

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd">
<plist version="1.0">
<dict>
	<key>device type</key>
	<string>gaming</string>
	<key>hid descriptor</key>
	<data>
	BQEJBKEBoQJ1CJUGFQAm/wA1gEZ/AAkyCTUJMAkxCTMJNIECdQSVASUHRjsBZRQJOYFC
	ZQB1AZUMJQFFAQUJGQEpDIECwMA=
	</data>
	<key>hid usage</key>
	<integer>4</integer>
	<key>hid usage page</key>
	<integer>1</integer>
	<key>interface number</key>
	<integer>0</integer>
	<key>location id</key>
	<integer>488636416</integer>
	<key>product id</key>
	<integer>3</integer>
	<key>product name</key>
	<string>PPM</string>
	<key>product version</key>
	<integer>263</integer>
	<key>readable inputs</key>
	<integer>19</integer>
	<key>transport</key>
	<integer>1</integer>
	<key>vendor id</key>
	<integer>1783</integer>
	<key>vendor id source</key>
	<integer>1</integer>
	<key>vendor name</key>
	<string>WAILLY</string>
</dict>
</plist>
starting up Heli-X: I don't get an error message that no input-device is selected and therefore recognizes the device too (?!)
but in the configuration set-up window the bars want move while using the device ...

summarizing

-> USB 6ch Simulator by Dynam is recognized by the System and has enough power to work correctly.
-> USB Overdrive does recognize it too and shows all movements of the device.
-> Heli-X recognizes the device, but doesn't let me configure it?!

does anybody have an idea what the problem is and could give me a solution to make my USB controller work in Heli-X?
BIG thanks in advance for any helpful input!

It would be interesting to see what is goning on in the console. Also after your calibration.

Thank you Michael ... slipped my mind to check the Console!
due to some incompatibility I removed USB-Overdrive after testing yesterday and wanted to check the Console output today ...
sometimes miracles do happen (rarely tough ;)
but the USB 6ch Simulator by Dynam works now smoothly in Heli-X with all the calibration possibilities!!!
and becomes an inexpensive solution to practice with a "real" transmitter.
