USB dongles won’t work with osx 10.9.2

After the latest OSX upgrade, none of my usb dongles work. I have two different ones plus an usb “radio”.
The "joystick and gamepad” tester can see them, but does not receive any data.
Can you reproduce? Any fix?
I suggest you don’t upgrade OSX yet.

After a few reboots, they happened to work anyway. I don’t know why.

Yesterday my usb dongles again stopped working.
I’m not going to reboot whenever that happens, so I suppose I’m not sim’ing for the next several weeks.
None of my usb dongles work with the two usb ports on my macbook pro

I’m still fighting to find a way to run heli-x on my mac.
Because I don’t want to reboot it every times my usb dongles refuse to work, I have tried to run hell-x inside a parallels virtual machine, so I don’t need to reboot the whole mac. The usb dongles work fine with parallels.
Parallels with linux: The hell-x window was totally transparent and the news window would not go away.
Parallels with osx 10.9.2: Heli-x 5.0 consistently crashed, and Heli-x 4.2 gave a black screen and no sound, no matter which airfield I selected.
I don’t know how to get going.
